The dunk contest, 3-point shootout, skills challenge and All-Star game will all take place on Sunday, with coverage beginning at 5 p.m. ET on TNT.

For the first time since the Thunder’s first year in Oklahoma City, there will not be representation from the franchise, but the organization has deep roots in All-Star history and the skill contests.

The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is the high-flying staple of NBA All-Star Weekend. Saturday night becomes a stage for the best dunkers in the game to showcase their slamming ability with some added panache. Mascots, cars, birthday candles, and Superman impressions — everything is in play. The dunking crown isn't something that's worn lightly. One of his most exciting dunks was a high-flying dunk over former Slam Dunk Contest winner, 5'7' Spud Webb. The 2006 Slam Dunk Contest was also the first Dunk Contest in history to have a 'Dunk Off', the equivalent to a Dunk Contest overtime, between Knicks point guard Nate Robinson and shooting guard Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers.

There have been two members of the Thunder or Seattle SuperSonics to win the dunk contest, and there have been 11 years in which a player competed in it. Here’s the history of the Thunder/Sonics franchise in the contest.
